Getting my books on Kindle...

January 22, 2013
I wish this were a simple matter of a click of the mouse, but it's not.

The Murder of Norman Ware is available on Kindle, but due to some distribution rights you have to have an American billing address (not a South African one) if you want to purchase it.

You can get it on Amazon here. It costs $24.99

You can buy The Karma Suture and The Angina Monologues as PDFs for your Kindle through Kalahari, Exclus1ves, and My Books. Use the Jacana links above to get there quickly. Oddly enough, the ebook is somehow more expensive than the paperback copy. Go figure.

ROSAMUND Kendal’s new novel, The Murder of Norman Ware, (reviewed on this page) is a crime novel with a difference — and has a KZN setting for its quirky, dark and often creepy action. Books Editor MARGARET VON KLEMPERER asked Kendal a few questions about it.

The Murder of Norman Ware is different from your previous novels — what made you turn to the crime genre from medical fiction?

I didn’t ...

Sorry folks...

October 11, 2012

Stop the presses! Or, rather, it appears that they were stopped. Or haven’t been started. Or that the books have been printed, but are lying in a warehouse somewhere in Limpopo…

(Launching three pointless separate Commissions of Inquiry is on my do-to list.)

Whatever the reason, copies of The Murder of Norman Ware will only be hitting the bookshops on 22 October. Until then, I will be posting a few more teasers to keep you hooked.

Third installment: the discovery of the body

September 22, 2012
(To keep you in the loop: if you missed the previous two excerpts from my latest novel, The Murder of Norman Ware, check out my previous two blog posts)

It took Jackson a long time to get up from the bed once Gugu had walked out with the battered Health & Racquet Club tog bag slung over her shoulder. Pretty had dressed and sat waiting for him on the step at the door of the one- roomed house, sipping a beer. The afternoon sun came in through the doorway and framed her, so that she looked li...

Second installment: a philandering gardener

September 20, 2012
(To keep you in the loop: if this is your first visit to my blog, make sure you check out my previous post before reading this one.)

Jackson Ngombo left work early on the afternoon of the second of November, as he did every Wednesday. His contract allowed him to take off a half day on Wednesdays in order to compensate for his having to work every Sunday morning from five thirty to eleven, mowing the greens so that golfers scheduled to spend their day of rest playing on the world...

To get you hooked...

September 17, 2012

The murder of Advocate Norman Ware caused great consternation among the residents of the exclusive San La Mer eco-estate. This was not because Advocate Norman Ware was a particularly well-liked man, nor was it because he held any sort of standing in the San La Mer community, despite the fact that he was a renowned and highly regarded advocate. The murder of Advocate Norman Ware (and he was never called anything other than Advocate Norman Ware: never simply Norman, or ...

The Big C (and the birth of Norman Ware)

September 17, 2012
I never specifically planned to write The Murder of Norman Ware. In fact, I didn't intend starting my third novel until 2013. There was a very logical reason for this: I was (and still am) busy completing the last year of my Diploma in Family Medicine, and studying while also trying to raise two boys, work, and train to run Comrades does not leave ample time in which to write a novel. And so I had set aside my aspirations to write a third novel until the completion of my studies.

I didn't ban...

Tips for getting your novel published...

September 7, 2012

So, you’ve eventually completed your manuscript. You’ve spent hours agonizing about the placement of semi-colons and commas, edited it until you can recite it backwards and forced it onto friends and family so frequently that they run away when they see you, fearful that they might be subjected to yet another manuscript reading. Now all that remains is for you to get your masterpiece published. Unfortunately (and hopefully someone told you this before you started writing!) this is by far ...
